Camper and RV Rentals MN and WI

Am I under any obligation to rent the camper if I fill out an application?

No you are not under any obligation nor are you required to make any payments in order to fill out a rental application.  However, we want you to be aware that we make no guarantees that by filling out a rental application you will end up with a RV rental.

The RVs become reserved only after we receive an initialed contract and deposit money. Also,  It is our policy to pursue all potential renters until open dates are booked, which means more than one person could be applying for the same dates on a particular RV. So if you truly want to rent a RV, we suggest that you promptly follow through with your part in the booking process as outlined in the following question.

What is your booking process?

Your part in the booking process entails these actions:

A)     Fill out a rental application.

B)      Await approval from the owner

C)      Carefully read and agree to a Rental Agreement (provided to you after approval) and put down the required deposit.

Our part in the booking process correlates with your actions:

A)     Submitting your rental application to the owner

B)      Letting you know if you are approved; and if you are, extending an opportunity for you to book by providing you with a contract and requesting your deposit

C)      Blocking off your dates once we receive the initialed contract and deposit and letting you know that you are booked OR letting you know if the RV becomes unavailable before we receive the initialed contract and deposit.

Why are your prices so reasonable?

We can rent for less as all of our RVs are privately owned. There is no large overhead for storage or staffing costs for you to pay for.   You pay a very reasonable rate for a quality RV.

What is your cancellation policy?

  •  If cancellation is made at least 30 days before reservation date, 50% of your deposit will be withheld or $50, whichever amount is greater.
  • If cancellation is made at least 8 days, but fewer than 30 days, before reservation date, 75% of your deposit will be withheld.
  • If there is a no show or cancellation is made less than 8 days before reservation date, there will be no refund of your deposit.
  • One exception to the above is as follows:
    •   In situations where booking is more than 3 days before reservation date and cancellation is made no more than 48 hours from the time booking confirmation is sent, only $50 of your deposit will be withheld for a processing fee and the rest will be refunded.

What supplies are in the RV?

The supplies in the RVs are a huge bonus for renters. The RVs are well stocked for all your camping needs. This means less packing and stress for you. There are kitchen supplies, grilling supplies, lawn chairs, bedding, towels, etc. You will be provided a detailed supplies list upon booking.

What are the fees for delivery, set up, and take down?

An approximate estimation is $1.18 per mile plus $75 for set up, take down, and tank cleaning. Remember, to figure out the miles, we take the distance from the owner’s location to the camping location times four because the owner has to travel to and from their location twice in order to drop off and pick up the RV.  The owner will provide you with a detailed quote before you are charged, and the owner’s quote may be more or less than this approximation.

What if my camping location does not have electricity?

To use many of the amenities in the RVs you will either need electricity or a generator. Some owners have a generator for rent. If not, Camptastic Rentals has a generator for rent. Check out our Extra Rentals page.

I have never camped before, how will I know what to do?

Owners provide a thorough orientation on the operational systems of their RV. There are detailed instructions located in the RV for your reference. If you are nervous about towing, most owners will deliver, set-up, and pick up the RV for an additional charge.

What procedure do owners follow upon the departure and return of their RVs?

The owner will finalize times approximately one week before your reservation date.  This is your dedicated time for paperwork completion and orientation.  Along with the orientation, the owner will do a check out sheet that lists the RV’s condition. The owner will use the same check out sheet when you arrive back from your trip to note the RV’s condition.  You are responsible for all new damage that occurs to the RV while you are in possession of it, regardless of fault or not.  The checkout sheet is used to track the overall condition of the RV, both out bound and inbound and will be used as the basis for determining the status of your security deposit refund.

The RV should be returned by what time?

The return time is 12 noon unless a different time is approved by the owner.

Are pets allowed in your RVs?

Some of the owners will allow pets in their RVs with an additional security deposit that may be refundable per conditions and terms in the Rental Agreement. These are the RVs that have a “yes” in the pet column on the RV Listings chart.

Do I have to clean the tanks on the RV?

Yes. Black/Gray holding tanks must be emptied and rinsed out before unit is returned. The owner will show you how to do this. NO EXCEPTIONS, unless owner agrees to clean the tank.

Do I need to clean the RV after using it?

Yes. This is how we keep our prices low for our customers. There will be a checklist provided to you on what cleaning tasks need to be completed.  If you want the RV owner to clean the RV, please write this on the comment section on the rental application, and a quote will be provided to you.

How does insurance work?

If you are towing a RV: You agree to provide liability insurance coverage on the RV through the insurance policy that covers your towing vehicle. Please contact your insurance agent to let them know that you will be renting a RV. A form will be provided to you for your agent’s signature as proof that your insurance policy extends the liability coverage for a non-owned, rented trailer while connected to your vehicle. Please ask the RV Owner if you have any questions about this. (If you need to purchase additional coverage check out to help you secure the proper insurance. If you go to this site, you will need the Owner’s policy number for the RV you are renting and will need to get this information from the Owner.)

Some RV Owners may require an Insurance Binder.  If they do, you must provide Owner with an insurance binder indicating that you have auto liability, collision, and comprehensive insurance covering you, Owner, and the RV. If this is a requirement for the RV you are renting, it will be noted on the RV page. Please make sure you can secure this coverage with your insurance agent before you book the RV. If you book and find out later that you are unable to secure a binder, you could potentially lose part of or all of your deposit per our cancellation policy.

Auto Insurance Companies That Do Offer RV Rental Insurance Binders:

  •  State Farm , Farmers, AAA, USAA, 21st Century, AllState, Wawanesa

Auto Insurance Companies That Do NOT Offer RV Rental Insurance Binders:

  •  Geico,  Libery Mutual, Mercury,  Traverlers, Progressive, Amica, Ameriprise, GMAC, Hartford, Nationwide, Most “off brand” policies (Edurance, Freeway, Fred Loya, etc …)

If you are driving a motorized RV: If driving a motorized RV, you agree to either Option A or Option B. If Owner does not offer Option B, then you must go with Option A.

Option A: Provide Owner with an insurance binder indicating that you have auto liability, collision, and comprehensive insurance covering you, Owner, and the RV.

Option B: Purchase MBA Choice Insurance.

Option  A– Obtain an Insurance Binder / Endorsement from your existing auto insurance company (State Farm, Farmer’s, AAA, Allstate, etc).

  • If you choose to go this route, the required paperwork will be provided to you to pass on to your agent.

  • The Owner will need to be added to your policy as a “Loss Payee” and “Additional Insured”.

  • Please note that your insurance must be full coverage to include comprehensive, collision and liability. The limits of liability shall be at least the minimum limits required by any applicable compulsory or financial responsibility law. Any deductibles shall not exceed $500.00.

Option B – Purchase MBA Choice Insurance.

  • If this choice is offered and is your preferred choice, please follow the step by step instructions below:

1.      Go to

2.      Enter the Owner’s policy numberand verify them as your “dealer”

3.      Select the appropriate series that applies to the unit you are renting:

  • Series 2 – All Class C and Class A Gas model RV’s

  • Series 3 – All Diesel Pusher Motor Homes

4.      Enter all trip and personal info.

5.      Print and sign Certificate of Insurance. Send the Owner a signed copy via email

NOTE: You are responsible to read the MBA Choice policy language so you understand what it covers and does not cover as well as the deductible amounts.

You will be given the option to purchase Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) during the purchase of your MBA Choice insurance. This increases the third party liability protection coverage to a maximum of $1,000,000.

Whether towing a non-motorized RV or driving a motorized RV:

  • You are responsible for all deductible amounts of insurance claims made by you or owner

  • You are responsible for all damage and/or loss to the RV that is not covered by your and/or our insurance policies or that is in excess of said insurance limits. Coverage is void if you fail to cooperate in any loss investigation conducted by the Owner or insurance companies involved. Prohibited uses also cause coverage to become void.

  • You are responsible for all damage or injury you cause to third parties.

  • You are responsible for all Loss of Use or Owner’s administrative expenses incurred processing a damage claim.

What happens if I don’t have a brake control system in my tow vehicle?

Brake Controls are required by state law for all RVs that weigh more than 3000lbs.  Please make sure brake control and trailer light wiring is in working order BEFORE you arrive to pick up the RV. If not, the owner will NOT be able to rent to you and your deposit will be forfeited.  Request delivery services if this is not workable for you.

Can I rent a hitch from you?

Depending upon your towing vehicle, renting a hitch from the owner may be mandatory. The rental cost of the hitch is automatically invoiced on some of the RVs, but the owner will refund the hitch amount if they feel your towing vehicle is adequately equipped.

Do you keep a waiting list? My dates appear to be booked.
